Sell Your Strengths

It's WPCG's obligation to our hiring clients to identify the top talent in the market and separate the achievers from the average WPCG expects that every single candidate we present can DO the job, but our business is built on supplying candidates who will excel. Right from the first contact, WPCG recruiters and consultants are trying to identify who stands out, and the way to stand out is to clearly define your career achievements. Every job opening is a competition amongst the applicants, and the best opportunities will go to the best candidates. Knowing your achievements is the first step of preparation for that competition. If you don't currently have a clear understanding of the value that you bring, spend some time reflecting on the different roles you've held. Build up an inventory of accomplishments which you can present in a way that differentiates you. If you can freely talk about 5 specific accomplishments and demonstrate how they showcase your abilities, you are prepared to sell your strengths.

Quantify Your Achievements

Anything that you have done to increase revenue or decrease costs is worth mentioning. All business is, in some sense, about money. If you can show how your work has had a direct impact on the bottom line, it will make you a more attractive candidate. If you played a key role on a project which led to 20% savings in technology spending, tell us about it. Another way to quantify your achievements is through efficiency. All companies are looking for ways to increase production. If you initiated a new process that led to a 3 day reduction in reporting time, let us know. As always, be prepared to answer some follow-up questions about your achievement. Once a WPCG recruiter knows what you did, they'll want to know how you did it. This information is invaluable to our hiring clients, and really shows them how your specific approach makes an impact.

Intangibles

WPCG recruiters gather a lot of information from our interaction with you. Simple things like, the way you handle a phone conversation, how quickly you return calls, and your communication style are all very important factors when considering a placement. Other crucial intangibles include punctuality, presentation, and professionalism. Having the technical skills, education, or experience for the position are certainly important, but our evaluations as well as those of our clients are based on non-technical skills as well. In fact, almost every WPCG recruit starts with intangibles such as fit parameters and the general work philosophies that our hiring clients are looking for. These and other intangibles account for over 50% of WPCG's decision on who gets the interview and who does not.
